No. 14: Beckman High School (15-4 in 2014)
Beckman has risen through the ranks over the last four years to now be recognized as a perennial playoff contender.  The Patriots cruised to a second consecutive Pacific Coast League title last year and the program’s first ever win over Corona del Mar High School.  The loss of 15 seniors to graduation leaves  the Patriots on the young side this year with few seniors.
What the seniors lack in quantity they make up for with quality.  Head coach Brendan Finnerty has great confidence in his small group of senior saying “they are great leaders who have shown the young guys how we do things here at Beckman.   I am excited to watch our leaders Alex Malmlund (attack), Jake Waltz (midfield) and Aidan O’Connor (midfield) make names for themselves as the season goes on.”  Attackmen Alex Watson and Jack Bilello will be players to watch  as they feed off the offensive leaders  and take on more of the load.  Finnerty looks forward to “them stepping into bigger roles and making some  noise this season.”
The Patriot defense will be lead by two sophomores and one freshman.  Finnerty has “high expectations for sophomore goalie Tyler Schweickert who has proven not only that he can stop the ball but he can also be the quarterback of the defense.”  Regarding his young defenseman Finnerty had this to say “Returning All League sophomore Tim Ellis will definitely have his voice heard as the only returning defense of players from last year. The respect that he has received from his teammates shows his passion and maturity to be a great leader.  I have been coaching freshman Justin Cheng for two years now at the youth level and I am excited to see him raise his game at the next level.”
