The Servite Friars avenged last season’s 13-10 loss to the Northwood Timberwolves with a 17-1 victory in the season opener for both teams.
Although the Friars team finished 2013 with a 2-16 record, they come into 2014 with hope and optimism as their young roster matures and develops under head coach Tom O’Leary. Tuesday night’s victory at home brought those hopes one step closer to reality. The Timberwolves had no answer for the duo of Nick Prado and Evan Purpura who led the Friars offense with hat tricks. Mike Seamen, Austin Felix, Ryan Thomas, and the Armienta brothers, Adam and Andreas, also scored goals for Servite.
The Friars hope to keep the momentum when going when they travel to El Toro on Thursday night. Northwood looks to get back to their winning ways with a home game against Valenica-Placentia today and an away game at Dana Hills on Friday.
