The Poway Titans made their long trip to Ranch Santa Margarita worthwhile with an 11 – 5 victory over the Santa Margarita Catholic Eagles. The Eagles looked strong in the first quarter and in fact held a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. Senior Bret Enochs opened the scoring with nice shot from five yards out at 6:52 of the first quarter to make it 1-0 Eagles. Less than a minute letter, Drew Webster collected a pass from Skyler Rockey and beat the Poway goalie with a bounce shot to make it 2 – 0 Santa Margarita. Poway got on the board before Hayden Ruiz picked up a groundball near midfield that no one else seemed to want, circled towards the Poway goal, and found Michael Senecal cutting down the middle. Senecal put it in the net with 3.5 seconds left in the quarter to make the score 3-1 Santa Margarita after one quarter.
SM seemed to have all the momentum as the second quarter began but the wheels came of the train at that point. Poway scored the next 10 goals of the game. Wes Schuler (from Doc Dochterman) and Ruiz (from Rockey) notched goals in the fourth quarter to make it 11-5 at the end. Santa Margarita drops to 3-1 and now gets ready for a Friday night away game against Cathedral Catholic.
