Peninsula varsity girls lax had its first game since missing last season and came out with so much energy, enthusiasm and excitement to be back on the field. Adding to the excitement was the first game in their new turf field and came out with a win over Downey 24-1.
Maddy Christen (5 goals, 2 assists) kept control in the midfield. Junior Brynne Snaguski (7 goals, 2 assists), senior Courtney Prikosovits (5 goals), and sophomore Roya Khaleeli (4 goals, 2 assists), senior Mia Yamada ( 2 goals, 1 assist) and sophomore Riley Yang provided the scoring punch.
Senior Felicia Huang locked down on defense to help goalie Hannah Peralta (4 saves) frustrate the Downey offense.
Next up for Peninsula is trip to Mira Costa for a Bay League showdown on April 9. Downey hosts Murietta Valley on March 27.
