No. 4 Peninsula shook off the rust from a spring-break layoff with its last nonleague game of the season Wednesday, beating host No. 18 Culver City 14-1.
Senior attack Colton Michel recorded six points for the Panthers (2g, 4a), and senior Caleb Smith (pictured, above) and junior Koby Tseng each had three goals and an assist. Senior Brandon Wilson had three goals; senior Grant Geiger had two and junior Kurt Landon scored one. Goalie Lance Plonski stopped 13 shots by the Centaurs (3-7).
The Panthers (10-1) have won three blowout games in a row since suffering their only loss to No. 1 Loyola on March 26. That loss came on the heels of a 10-9 overtime win at Harvard Westlake. Since then, though, Peninsula has beaten Thacher 17-3, Foothill-Pleasanton 16-4 and now Culver City.
Peninsula opens Bay League play next Wednesday at No. 9 Mira Costa, then plays host to No. 2 Palos Verdes on April 17.
