Palos Verdes Nearly Overtakes Harvard Westlake in Poll

After wins last week over then No. 2 Loyola and Orange County No. 2 San Clemente, Palos Verdes moved from the No. 3 spot very nearly to No. 1 in the US Lacrosse/MaxLaxLA coaches poll. Undefeated Harvard Westlake (12-0), which did not play last week, held onto the No. 1 spot by the narrowest of margins.

The Wolverines received 11 of 18 first-place votes, but they also were listed No. 3 by three voters. That opened the door for the Sea Kings (9-3), who received seven first-place votes and 11 second-place votes, coming within percentage points of taking over the top spot.

Loyola (12-4), which has lost to both Harvard Westlake and Palos Verdes, still was listed No. 2 on three ballots and is now No. 3 in the poll.

Oaks Christian, Agoura and West Ranch each moved up one spot in a week in which a number of teams were off for spring break.
