Perhaps no American holiday is more steeped in tradition than Thanksgiving. Some traditions, like turkey and giving thanks, are old. Other traditions like watching football and Black Friday are more recent. Here in Orange County, lacrosse families have begun a tradition of their own. After the last piece of pumpkin pie is devoured and the dishes are cleared, its time to trade the aromatic pleasantries of a Thanksgiving feast for the unique bouquet of stale lacrosse gear, as we pack the bags and head to the desert for the Palm Desert Lax Classic.
The sixth annual PDLC begins the day after Thanksgiving and runs until Sunday afternoon. OC will be repped by local teams like San Clemente Wave, Crush, the OC Friars, and DH Lax, as well as players on regional teams like Brady’s Bunch and FCA. The event also attracts teams from other parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah in the U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 age brackets at Hovley Soccer Park, in Palm Desert. The games begin Friday morning and end by 1:30 on Sunday.
If you prefer to get up at oh dark thirty on Friday morning, and stand in a cold rainy line for five hours waiting for the store to open so you can save 20 bucks on a flat screen tv to the warmth and serenity of Palm Desert, no worries. MaxLaxOC.com is the official media partner of the Palm Desert Lax Classic, and we will be reporting on the action all weekend long. Just check back with us for daily updates.
