OC United Black, coached by Dan “DK” Kirkpatrick., came out on top at the Summer Storm 2015 tournament to claim their second championship of the summer. 17 teams competed in the girls high school bracket. OC United Black outscored their opponents 65-12.
Midfielder Rylie Siegfried (Newport Harbor) lead the scoring with 12 goals, followed by Brianna Covey (Los Alamitos) 11, Kendall Derbyshire (Trabuco Hills) 9 and Sophia Schade (Los Al) 8. Rounding out the scoring: Kelsey Schilz (Los Al) 6, Lauren Kilger (Foothill) 6, Kayla McGeorge (Esperanza) 5, Kelly Drukker (Los Al) 4 and Sabrina Savage (Aliso Niguel) 1. Defense got in on the scoring action: Daisy Haas (Los Al) 1, Katrina Lopez (Los Al) 1 and Kylie Otake (Los Al) 1.
Goalies Campbell Poe (Los Al) and Hannah Sanders (Newport Harbor) allowed only 12 goals across 6 games with help from the stellar defense of Haas, Lopez, Otake, Mandy Mangels (Aliso Niguel) and Jordan Rausch (Newport Harbor).
This was the last tournament for OC United Black this summer. They finished the summer as the Battle of LA and Summer Storm Champions and took home 3rd place honors from the Pacific Lacrosse Festival.
