OC Boys’ Lacrosse Countdown: No. 6 Tesoro

As Tesoro heads into its third season under coach , the No. 6 Titans are heavily favored to repeat as Sea View League champions and may have the right stuff to compete for a championship.  Tesoro dominated the Sea View All-League team with 12 selections (nine on the first-team and three on the second team).  They all return except for defenseman who graduated.

To move up in the rankings though, the Titans will have to prove they can beat a Top Five team.  They were unsuccessful in four tries against Top Five teams last year, including a Round 2 loss to Foothill in the playoffs. They will get shots at it again this year with regular season games against San Clemente, Santa Margarita, and Corona del Mar.

League play will be a different story. The Titans are expected to once again overpower their Sea View League competition.  Last season they cruised through league play undefeated and outscored their opponents by a combined 157-12. Those eight games will not help their strength of schedule, and the seeding committee may need to look past that come late April.

Regardless of who they play, look for the Titans to put some impressive numbers on the board this year.  The top 15 scorers from the unit that averaged 14 goals per game last year are back in 2018.  Headlining that group will be (49 goals), junior Sacred Heart-commit  (49 goals), and senior (46 goals). , , , and all scored 10 or more goals year too, and will all be back this season.

Defensively, poles and recent Westminster-commit , as well as goalie are returning all-league performers.  Juniors and shared the bulk of the faceoff duties last season.  Both players had better than 0.62 winning percentages and are back on the roster this year.

The Titans have much reason to be optimistic in 2018; eight seniors, returning all-league performers up and down the field, and envious depth.  If they can pull it all together, they could find themselves playing in mid-May.
