An 8-7 win over then-No. 3 Chaminade on Friday was enough for coaches to vote Oak Park ahead of Chaminade in this week’s US Lacrosse/MaxLaxLA coaches poll. Oak Park (6-2) takes over the No. 3 spot, with Chaminade (9-2) slipping to No. 4.
Redondo Union (7-1) and Palos Verdes (5-2) retained the Nos. 1 and 2 positions in the poll, with Redondo a unanimous No. 1 for the second time in three weeks. The teams meet for the first time this season Wednesday at Palos Verdes.
Other teams moving up in the ranking include Glendale (7-1), which jumped from No. 12 to No. 10, and Mira Costa (6-2), which moved from No. 19 to No. 16. Newbury Park (1-6) dropped from No. 14 to No. 18.
Simi Valley (6-4) replaced El Segundo (5-3) in the No. 20 spot and is the only newcomer to the rankings this week.
