Thousand Oaks held visiting No. 11 Oaks Christian scoreless in the fourth quarter Friday, enabling the No. 8 Lancers to rally from a 7-5 deficit to force overtime and win the Marmonte League game 8-7.
Drew Steckline tied the game 7-7 for T.O., scoring with 2:19 left in the fourth, then put the game-winner in the net in the extra period.
The Lancers (7-7, 5-3) had taken an early 1-0 lead on a goal from Alex Ditto, but the Lions (7-7, 4-4) surged to a 3-1 lead by the end of the first period. They led 4-2 at halftime.
Thousand Oaks tied it 4-4 in the third, but Oaks again pulled in front 6-4 on goals by Danny Redell and Cort Rogers. After T.O. scored to make it 6-5, Lorenzo Santor restored the two-goal edge for the Lions, making it 7-5 entering the fourth. But Oaks wouldn’t score again.
Steckline, Ditto, Spencer Whinery and Drew Conlon each scored twice for the Lancers. Redell led Oaks Christian with three goals and an assist.
