Wet and rainy conditions didn’t stop No. 4 Santa Margarita boys lacrosse as they began their 2018 campaign with a dominant 16-5 victory over El Toro (0-4) on Friday.
Tyler Wrightson led the Eagles with a dominant five-point performance (4G, 1A), and Quentin Buchman began the season looking like his usual self with four goals of his own. Nicholas Parrino contributed a great performance as well and notched a hat trick (3G, 1A).
Jack Allender (1G, 2A), Ryan Williams (2G), Matt Ury (1G), Ryan Ross (1G), and Ryan You (1A) rounded out the point totals offensively for Santa Margarita, who as a team had 43 shots. Ross’ goal was his first ever on the varsity level.
In his debut at FOGO, Connor Carr won 14 of 24 faceoffs and also had four ground balls.
El Toro’s team and individual statistics were not made available as of this stories publication.
The Chargers will look to get in the win column for the first time this season but will have to do it on the road Tuesday against Mission Viejo. Meanwhile, the Eagles (1-0) square off with Trabuco Hills (1-0) in a road contest on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
