No. 2 Palos Verdes Handles OC No. 5 Santa Margarita

Juniors Rizal Smith (left) and Aidan Westley (right) combined for seven goals Friday, as visiting No. 2 Palos Verdes handled Orange County No. 5 Santa Margarita Catholic 12-6. It was PV’s fifth victory in six road games this season.

The win boosts the Sea Kings’ record to 6-2 on the season, with losses coming to San Diego power La Costa Canyon earlier this week and to St. Margaret’s Episcopal, currently No. 4 in Orange County, on March 14. Palos Verdes is off until April 7, when it travels once again, this time to play J Serra Catholic (6-0), currently No. 3 in Orange County.

Palos Verdes currently has the highest strength-of-schedule rating among L.A. teams in’s calculations, followed by Agoura, Loyola, Crespi and Harvard Westlake.

Friday, Westley had four goals and an assist, and Smith had three goals and assist to lead the Sea Kings. Senior middie Stanny Gilbertson scored twice and recorded an assist, and senior goalie David McCann was credited with 12 saves.
