The Newport Harbor girls lacrosse team beat Los Alamitos 15-6 on Friday at Los Alamitos High School. The win puts the Sailors in the driver’s seat for the Sunset League championship and marks their first road victory over Los Alamitos in over 10 years.
The Sailors are now the lone undefeated team in the Sunset League and have defeated the two teams (Los Al and Corona del Mar) that were considered to be their main rivals for the ‘ship. That said, Edison and Laguna Beach still stand in the way.

Defensively, the Sailors were led by Willa Rath, who had nine saves while Knipp and Palmquist each had three groundballs.
The Sailors (4-4, 2-0) can clinch a share of the Sunset League title with a win on Thursday at Edison. Los Alamitos (4-4, 1-1) looks to bounce back, as they play at Santa Margarita on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
