Mira Costa Midfielder Crandall Commits to Lafayette

Junior midfielder of Mira Costa, a second-team all- selection last spring, has committed to play collegiately at Division I Lafayette College. Crandall plays club lacrosse for Factory Elite and West Coast Starz.

In addition to Lafayette of the Patriot League, Crandall also considered Tufts, Amherst, Dartmouth, Holy Cross and Brown. He carries a 3.8 GPA. Check out our updated list of college commitments for the classes of 2015 and 2016.

“When I came on board last year, I knew from Day 1 Zane had the ‘it factor,’ ” Mira Costa coach Aaron Karsh said. “As we saw him develop last season, we could all tell he was going to make a big impact for us that season and these next two years.”

“Zane has outstanding open field speed, very quick moves and is a great all around lacrosse player,” Karsh said. Some midfielders can only play one way. Zane not only is a great offensive player but works hard on the defensive side of the ball as well.”

With two high school seasons left to play, Crandall’s focus is much more on Mira Costa than it is Lafayette.

“I am excited for our upcoming Costa season,” Crandall said, “because I feel like we have a real chance to win CIF. We have a lot of leaders who are trying to get the program back on track, which will change our mentality going into the season. Our upperclassman are very skilled and know what it takes to win.”
