Newport Harbor boys lacrosse coach Mark Todd announced that Jared Rabin, Race Mooers, Zach Quinonez and William Campbell will be team captains.
“All four [captains] are seniors that were selected by their teammates. Each has an interest at playing at the collegiate level,” Todd said in a message.
Rabin, an attacker, was an all-Sunset League honorable mention last season. According to Todd, Rabin is a selfless kid and that he did what Newport Harbor’s coaching staff wanted him to do last year, play hard and play consistent. Rabin has committed to the University of Nevada.
Mooers, a face-off specialist, is an all-Sunset League second team selection last season. According to Todd, Mooers is looking for a “big West Coast school.”
Quinonez, a 6’2 midfielder, enters his third year on varsity, and according to Todd, he is waiting to hear from Ohio State.
Campbell, a 6’5 defender, enters his second year on varsity. Todd said he is waiting to hear from powerhouse school Notre Dame.
The four seniors look to get a young Newport Harbor squad back into the playoffs, after missing it last year. Todd talked about how his four captains are great players on and off the field.
“All 4 players are incredibly modest, but they are great students, empathetic leaders, devoted teammates and all possess lacrosse skill sets and athleticism quite capable of doing exceptional work here in their senior year,” Todd said.
