McGowan and Denver Classmates Get High Marks

Denver PioneersScott McGowan (St. Margaret’s Episcopal School, 2013) and 13 other incoming recruits enter their freshman year at the University of Denver as the 11th ranked recruiting class in the nation according to Inside Lacrosse. A University of Denver press release reports that this is Bill Tierney’s highest-ranked recruiting class since he took over at Denver. McGowan was widely regarded as the top long stick midfielder in Orange County for the past three years. He played four years of varsity lacrosse at St. Margaret’s and was a three-time All-County performer as well as an Adrenaline All-American his senior year.

McGowan will join former Foothill High School star Eric Adamson on the Pioneers. Adamson, a junior, is coming off a stellar sophomore year in which he earned Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic and Second Team All-ECAC honors. He was named named Baltimore Sun’s National Player of the Week (02/15/13) after scoring five goals and one assist in the Pioneers’ season-opener against eventual national champions Duke University. Adamson started in 14 of the Pioneers’ 19 games, finishing the season with 27 goals and 13 assists for 40 points.
