El Toro Charger Emily Lackey is MaxLaxOC Girls’ Player of the Week!
Emily Lackey is a force to be reckoned with for the El Toro lady Chargers. Since her freshman year, junior Lackey has played on the varsity team. Each season she brings high-caliber athleticism to the field, as well as a positive and competitive spirit.
On the field, this midfielder wins draws, ground balls, and scores goals with nifty style and skill to bring her team to success. Draw control, epitomized by her outstanding performance against Mira Costa on March 19, is a forte for Lackey.
Even when working from the losing end, Lackey often leads her team’s offensive effort. In El Toro’s recent tough loss against San Clemente for example, Lackey scored five of the Chargers’ eight goals.
El Toro Head Coach Allie Kyte says, “On the field Emily is reliable and dependable. She is that girl who you can always give the ball to and trust that she’ll do good things with it.” Lackey will not only light the field for El Toro. She is also playing with the National Team travelling to Maryland and Team OC Elite this summer.
Off the field, Lackey has proportional success in school. Lackey is involved in the early college program, CSF, and takes multiple honors classes. Kyte says, “I think she’s an extremely dedicated hard worker on the field and academically.”
After high school Emily plans to continue her lacrosse career pursuing a STEM degree at a prestigious college, several of which she has yet to choose from. She will surely bring the rewards of her athletic legacy at El Toro wherever she goes.
Congratulations, Emily Lackey!
