Mater Dei’s Waterman, Hagen Come Up Big Against Northwood

(6 goals, 5 assists) and Pete Hagen (5 goals, 2 assists) combined for 11 goals to lead Mater Dei to a 15-2 win over Northwood on Monday.  The Monarchs broke open a close game with a nine-goal second quarter deluge and then maintained control in the second quarter.
The Monarchs controlled possession and the carpet throughout, preventing the Timberwolves from counter attacking. Luke Belinsky was 13/9 at the dot.  Led by Waterman (8 groundballs) and Belinksy (5gb, 1a), the Monarchs cleaned up 40 groundballs.
Senior defenseman (2 caused turnovers, 3gb) was the main cog in a defense that allowed Northwood only 11 shots on target.  Goalie stopped nine of those shots for a tidy 81.8 save percentage on the evening.
(2g), (1g), and (1g) completed the Mater Dei scoring.
Chua and Reeves scored the two Northwood goals.
Mater Dei improves to 5-2 with the win and puts a three-game win streak on the line Thursday when they host JSerra at 5:30 pm.  The Timberwolves fall to 2-3 and get ready for a Pacific Coast League tilt against University on March 18.
