Martin, Thompson Pace Dana Hills in the Swap Meet

and scored five goals apiece to lead Dana Hills to a 17-5 victory over Mission Viejo in a game featuring two teams that swapped coaches during the off-season. 

Dana Hills head coach, , left his head coaching position at Mission Viejo after two years to take over the program at Dana Hills. Mission Viejo head coach, , took the job as head coach at Mission after 5 years as the Dana Hills head coach. 

The game started quickly with Dana coming out of the gate hot with Martin (5g 1a) scoring two goals back to back.  Mission answered back with two goals of their own tying up the score.  Goals were traded back and forth until Martin earned a hat trick giving Dana the one-goal lead at the end of the first quarter at 5-4.

Thompson (5g) started off the second quarter with his second goal of the night starting a Dana Hills run, dominating possession for the remainder of the game with six different players scoring goals including (2g), (2g), (2g), (1g). 

The Dolphins offense showed great team chemistry and went hard to the cage.  A key factor in the outcome and time of possession was the excellent performance of the three FOGO’s rotating at the faceoff: , , and .

After surrendering four goals in the first quarter, the defense came together as a unit holding off Mission Viejo’s attempts to increase their score by only allowing 1 more goal for the rest of the game.

Coach Cooper was happy with the results of the team’s first game of the season, “We have taken our first step in the right direction and will continue to build off of this first win.”

Dana Hills travels to Northwood for a non-league contest on Tuesday, March 5th.
