Foothill hosted Scripps Ranch, the #4 team in the San Diego Section, on Tuesday at Foothill High School. Putting their trademark depth on display, the Knights used 14 different players to score 15 goals on 11 assists. The stout Foothill defense held a Falcons offense that was averaging 15 goals per game coming in to just three goals.
Nate Marano had 6 goals and James Snyder had 2 goals off 2 shots in an impressive showing of quick feet and pinpoint accuracy. Other scorers included Steven Oberly (1G 2A), Nathan Skeen (1G 2A), Drew Boyd (2A), Josh Fox (2A), Evan Brown (1G), Ellis Geis (1G), Cole Fergus (1G), Rafael Fernandez (1G), Ryan Foy (1A), Julian Marchese (1A), and defensemen Spencer Davis (1A) and Matt Marano (1G). The Foothill defense provided plenty of opportunities for the offense with relentless pursuit and extremely strong play by Danny Carter, Davis, Matt Marano and LSM Jared Copeland – the half time score was 9-0 with Foothill allowing Scripps only 7 shots.
Scripps came out in the 3rd with two quick goals by Ian Dryer (1G) and Chris Burley (2G), but could not sustain the run. Foothill outscored the Falcons 6-1 the rest of the way to secure the 15-3 victory.
Foothill will continue their strong schedule on Saturday 3/28 as they head to San Diego County to play the Mavericks of La Costa Canyon which has always proven to be a top notch game. Scripps will go on to play Coronado, where they will look for a second win against a tough Islanders team.
