Lynch’s Hat Trick Helps Woodbridge Doubles Up Irvine

woodbridgeEthan Lynch celebrated his birthday with a hat trick to help Woodbridge High School to a 10-5 victory over Irvine High School on Thursday.

The Warriors jumped out to a 9-3 halftime lead and then gave the starters some rest as they cruised to the win. Two unassisted goals by Ben Robinson, and one apiece from and Sam Turner got the Warriors out to a 4-2 lead at the first checkpoint. Goals from Lynch (assist from Brad Hansberger), Ben Stallings (assist from Hansberger), Lynch again (this one one on an assist from Robinson), Berkow, and Robinson (assist from Berkow) brought the score to 9-3 at halftime. Lynch completed his hat trick in the third quarter before the Vaqueros scored two in the final frame to end the game at 10-5. Dom Budetti (7 saves) and Mikel Hood (11 saves) split the goalkeeping duties for the Warriors. Phillip Hong led Woodbridge with 5 groundballs. LSM Zach Kennedy earned player of the game honors for his lockdown defense and 3 groundballs.

 
Woodbridge (5-4) travels to Beckman and Uni for crucial Pacific Coast League games next Monday and Wednesday.  Irvine (0-6) looks to get in the win column when they host Uni on Monday.
