Loyola Solidifies Hold On No. 1 Spot in Coaches Poll

Coming off an overtime win over Palos Verdes on Saturday night, the Loyola Cubs strengthened their hold on the No. 1 spot in the US Lacrosse/MaxLaxLA coaches poll, grabbing 20 of 26 first-place votes.

Harvard Westlake moved up to No. 2, despite its loss Saturday to visiting St. Margaret’s, with Palos Verdes sliding to No. 3, barely ahead of undefeated Chaminade, which moved up one spot from No. 5.

Even after the results of Friday and Saturday, though, poll voters were remarkably kind to Palos Verdes and Oaks Christian. Half the voters ranked Palos Verdes ahead of Oaks Christian, despite the Sea Kings’ head-to-head loss to the Lions, and seven voters ranked Oaks Christian ahead of Chaminade, despite the Lions’ head-to-head loss to the Eagles.

Below are the results of the US Lacrosse/MaxLaxLA boys LA coaches poll after Week 2 of the regular season, with 26 ballots submitted.
