Coming off an overtime win over Palos Verdes on Saturday night, the Loyola Cubs strengthened their hold on the No. 1 spot in the US Lacrosse/MaxLaxLA coaches poll, grabbing 20 of 26 first-place votes.

Harvard Westlake moved up to No. 2, despite its loss Saturday to visiting St. Margaret’s, with Palos Verdes sliding to No. 3, barely ahead of undefeated , which moved up one spot from No. 5.

Even after the results of Friday and Saturday, though, poll voters were remarkably kind to Palos Verdes and . Half the voters ranked Palos Verdes ahead of , despite the Sea Kings’ head-to-head loss to the Lions, and seven voters ranked ahead of Chaminade, despite the Lions’ head-to-head loss to the Eagles.
