Loyola’s come-from-behind win over Harvard Westlake on Saturday vaulted the streaking Cubs past the Wolverines and into the No. 2 spot in the MaxLaxLA , just in time for Tuesday’s annual rivalry game with No. 1 Palos Verdes.

The Sea Kings were named No. 1 on all 31 ballots cast this week, and 27 voters placed Loyola No. 2. Four voters still had Harvard Westlake, which beat Loyola earlier in the season, at No. 2. The Wolverines are No. 3 in this week’s voting.

Loyola travels to Palos Verdes on Tuesday (3:30 p.m.) for a game that in each of the past three seasons has served as an appetizer for the eventual main course — a head-to-head matchup for the LA Championship. Loyola is 4-2 vs. Palos Verdes in the last three seasons and has won the last three meetings and the last three LA titles. Last year, the Cubs won both the regular season and playoff meeting. In 2016 and 2017, PV won the regular-season game but lost the title game.

Elsewhere in the voting, Chaminade and Oak Park each moved up one spot to Nos. 7 and 8, as Sierra Canyon dropped from No. 7 to No. 9 after losing to and edging Brentwood 9-6.
