Loyola Closes Gap On Palos Verdes In Coaches Poll

With three impressive wins to open the season, the Loyola Cubs have closed the gap on Palos Verdes in the U.S. Lacrosse/MaxLaxLA coaches poll. The Sea Kings, who open their season at Crespi today, retain the No. 1 position, but Loyola picked up some additional first-place votes and are a very close second.

Palos Verdes received eight first-place votes this week, compared to 17 in the preseason poll, while Loyola received six first-place votes to only one in the preseason voting.

This week, 15 coaches submitted ballots, compared to 18 in the preseason poll, and four ballots left Palos Verdes off entirely, while one ballot left off Loyola. The poll results are a reflection of the ballots received.

Editor’s Note: The coaches poll was created in cooperation with the L.A. chapter of U.S. Lacrosse. All high school boys varsity coaches are invited and encouraged to participate. We at MaxLaxLA would encourage players, parents and fans to ask your school’s coach if he is a voter in the poll. If he is not, please encourage him to participate. The poll is only as good as the time, effort and thought put into it by the coaches who vote. Thank you.
