Los Al Wins Sunset League Crown

Led by Mitchell Duttons unbelievable 22 Saves, Los Al clinched the Sunset League championship with a 11-5 win over Newport Harbor. Los Al charged out of the gates with a 7-0 first quarter lead. Every starting starting attackman and middie scored a goal. Josh Duchon opened the scoring at the 10 minute mark unassisted. Within minutes, Josh Jenks and Tyler Miller both scored with assists from Sterling Hardy to make it 4-0. Ozzie Hyde and Hardy added unassisted goals before Tyler Miller scored the sixth goal on an unselfish pass from Josh Jenks. Jace Heller then added a goal on an assist from Duchon to close the quarter 7-0 Los Al.

Jenks opened the second quarter with a great goal on an assist from Heller. After a couple of Newport goals, Hardy buried a long shot on with an assist from Chase
Steffien. Los Al took a 10-3 lead at the end of the 3rd after Hyde buried a shot, assisted by Miller. Newport made it interesting scoring twice to make it 10-5, but Los Al put
it away with a goal by Duchon assisted by Hyde.

The Los Al defense stymied Newport Harbor throughout the game with great play from Chris Hawk, Jack Morrow and Shane O’Connell and the defensive anchors. Ryan Atkinson and Maxx Crowley picked up 5 ground balls each. Casey Mais and Jacob Andreasson scooped three ground balls each Hayden Smith continued his domination at the face-off X, winning 80 percent of the draws.

The Griffins finished the season with a 5-1 league record and 14-4 overall. They head into the playoffs with the momentum of a 4 game win streak. The Sailors fell to 9-8 overall and 3-3 in league play
