Long Beach Poly Lacrosse

Long Beach Poly lacrosse is accepting applications for the positions of head JV/varsity assistant coach and strength and conditioning coach for the current fall-ball and the spring 2018 seasons.

Long Beach Polytechnic HS is the flagship high school of the Long Beach Unified School District and has long been distinguished in both academics and athletics. Poly is a top-10 sports school in the country, according to ESPN, and its lacrosse program is in its fourth year. In 2017, the lacrosse program became a district sport and achieved a 10-7 CIF record.

JV Head / Varsity Assistant

The Long Beach Poly lacrosse program seeks a JV Head/Varsity Assistant coach for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018. The ideal candidate will be a key contributor to the growth of the program to match the tradition and historical success of Long Beach Poly’s athletics.

The program’s booster club is in its second year and is dedicated to the growth of the program. LB Poly’s athletic director and department are supportive to make lacrosse a leading sport in Long Beach. The team has dedicated players who deserve, and would highly benefit from, focused attention.

Qualifications

  • Playing experience, college preferred
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • 2+ years experience coaching youth and/or high school
  • Roles and Responsibilities

  • Check in attendance and report each practice
  • Create practice plans to teach and develop strong fundamental skills
  • Report to Head Coach
  • Fall Ball 1-2 days/week: Last Period 1:15-3 p.m.
  • Spring daily practices: 3-5:30 p.m.
  • Other Requirements Upon Hiring

  • District background check and clearance
  • NFHS coaches certification
  • Compensation

    Strength and Conditioning Coach

    The Long Beach Poly lacrosse program seeks a Strength & Conditioning Coach for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018. The ideal candidate will be a key contributor to the growth of the program to match the tradition and historical success of Long Beach Poly’s athletics.

    Qualifications

  • Physical training major or certified trainer
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Experience coaching or working with youth and/or high school students
  • Roles and Responsibilities

  • Check in attendance and report each practice
  • Create practices plans to develop game speed, agility, and endurance, as well as strength and technique.
  • Report to Head Coach
  • Fall Ball 1-2 days/week: Last Period 1:15-3 p.m.
  • Spring daily practices: 3-5:30 p.m.
  • Other Requirements Upon Hiring

  • District background check and clearance
  • NFHS coaches certification

    Compensation
    TBD and commensurate with experience and availability.
