Lady Griffins Defeat No.1 Foothill

On Saturday Los Alamitos defeated longtime rival Foothill 16-8 in a battle between two of the top girls’ lacrosse programs in California. ranks Los Alamitos No.1 in the Southern Section and No. 2 in the state. Foothill is No. 2 in the Southern Section and No. 3 in the state.

The two teams swapped goals early before Los Alamitos put the pedal to the metal and pulled away from the Lady Knight. Los Al built up an 11-7 lead at halftime, and never looked back.

Los Al dominated the second half, outscoring Foothill 5-1 to reach the final score of 16-8. Three yellow cards were issued during the game, two to Foothill and one to Los Alamitos. This is the second time that Los Alamitos has beaten Foothill this season, the first time being when the two teams met in the championship game at the Sun, Surf, and Stix Tournament, and sends a message that Los Al, who has completed their season with a 10-6 record, is ready for the playoffs. Foothill (12-2) finishes their season by hosting El Dorado tonight, and travelling to Newport Harbor for the season finale o Thursday.
