LA Heat 2019 outlasted RC Elite Carolina 6-4 on Sunday to claim the championship of the Gatorade Elite division at the Adrenaline Challenge. The victory capped a perfect, 6-0 tournament for LA Heat 2019, but Sunday’s road was a lot tougher than Saturday’s.
LA Heat 2019 outscored its three pool opponents 28-5 on Saturday to reach Sunday’s championship bracket. After a 6-2 quarterfinal win over OC Express 2019, the Heat battled Team 12 Elite for a 7-4 victory in the semifinal. That set up the title-game matchup with RC Elite Carolina, which had opened with a 7-3 pool loss to Team Maryland 2018/19 before winning four in a row.
Elsewhere in the division:
- SD United won its pool with three consecutive Saturday victories, then edged MadLax Oregon 2019 6-5 in the quarterfinals. But United fell to RC Elite Carolina by an 8-5 count in the semifinals.
- Team 12 Elite defeated squads from Utah, Colorado, Washington and Texas before falling to LA Heat in the semifinals.
- SoCal Express went 2-1 in pool play Saturday, losing only a 6-5 decision to 3d Texas 2019, before falling to LA Heat 2019 in the quarterfinals. The Express bounced back to beat 3d Texas in a consolation game to finish 3-2 on the weekend.
