Kings Lax Gold (Corona del Mar) won the High School Elite division at the SandStorm Lacrosse Festival for the second year in a row Sunday, beating Rip City Elite (Orange County) 5-4 in Sunday’s championship game.

Kings Gold won the Escena pool, going 5-1 with the only loss coming 9-6 on Saturday afternoon to RIV Colorado 12 Elite in the fourth game of the day for the Kings. Earlier Saturday, Kings Gold beat Oregon Outlaws 11-6, Sacramento Aces 8-3 and Bay Area’s Finest 15/16 7-2. The Kings wrapped up pool play Sunday with wins over Victory SJC Select (St. Margaret’s) 7-2 and Crusaders Black (Cathedral Catholic, San Diego) 10-5.

Rip City went 4-0-1 to win the Vista Mirage pool and make the playoffs, beating Beach Boys (Poway) 10-5, Goon Alpha Elite 6-5, OC Crush 10-5 and Fog City (St. Ignatius, San Francisco) 6-3. Their only blemish in pool play, if you can call it that, was a 5-5 tie with Factory Elite out of Palos Verdes. Rip City beat 3d NorCal 15/16, winner of the Seven Lakes pool, 8-4 in the playoffs to advance to the title game.

Victory SJC vs. Cathedral Crusaders
Victory Select posted a tough 9-8 win over the Crusaders of Cathedral Catholic (San Diego).

Escena pool: Victory SJC Select out of St Margaret’s went 3-2, with an 8-3 loss to Kings Lax Gold on Sunday morning essentially deciding the pool winner. Victory had posted a tough 9-8 win over Crusaders Black (Cathedral Catholic, San Diego) on Saturday.

Seven Lakes pool: Goon 17, with a number of players from Loyola HS, and Beach Head 15 (Peninsula HS) both went 2-3 in pool play. Goon won the head-to-head meeting between the two, winning 9-5 on Sunday morning.

Vista Mirage pool: Factory finished the event 2-1-2 in pool play, with wins over OC Crush and Goon Alpha Elite and a tie with Rip City. But Factory lost to Fog City (St. Ignatius, San Francisco) and tied Beach Boys (Poway) on Sunday. OC Crush and Goon Alpha Elite each went went 1-4. OC Crush won the head-to-head meeting between the teams, winning 7-4 in the final pool game Sunday morning.
