It’s East vs West in Latest MCLA D-1 Polls

Although Cal, Chapman, and Cal Poly continue to maintain their presence in the MCLA Division 1 poll, none were able to dislodge South Carolina from the top of the perch.  Cal checks in at no. 2, Cal poly at no. 3 and Chapman is tied with Georgia Tech at no. 5.  Liberty University (Lynchburg, Va) fills the no. 4 spot to make it an even East v West distribution in the Top 5.

The press release from MCLA.us is presented below:

ATLANTA – With the new addition of Georgia to the MCLA Division I New Balance Weekly Coaches poll, the Southeastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) now takes up nine of the 25 spots in the poll, which was for the period ending March 2.

South Carolina (9-0) still leads the way at the top of the charts, grabbing 15 of the 23 first-place votes this week.

California (6-0) remained firm in the second spot, seven points behind the Gamecocks. The Golden Bears snagged the remaining eight first-place votes.

Despite a one-goal loss to No. 5 (tied) Chapman (4-2), Cal Poly (7-1) remain lodged in the third chair.

The big mover of the week was Boston College (3-2), which parlayed a one-goal win over Chapman on Monday night into a 10-spot move up the charts to No. 9.

Grand Canyon (1-2) exited the poll this week to make room for Georgia.
