David Trask and Andy Kim provided the late game heroics to lift Irvine High School to a come from behind 13-12 victory over Woodbridge. Down 12-11 with 86 ticks left on the clock, Trask tied the game. Just about a minute later, Kim nailed the game winner with his fifth goal of the game. The win puts Irvine (5-4; 3-4) a 1/2 game ahead of the Warriors (4-9; 3-5) for third place in the Pacific Coast League. Kim led the Vaqueros (5 goals, 1 assist) with six points. Noah Miller (3g, 1a), Andy Nguyen (2g), Trask (2g, 1a) and Tucker Page (1g, 1a) accounted for the remainder of the Vaqueros’ scoring.
Woodbridge was led by record-setting performances from Zack Kennedy and Gus Colunga. Kennedy (8 goals, 4 gb) set the team record for most goals in a game.. Colunga’s eight groundballs also set a team single-game record. Christian Keena (1g, 1a, 3gb), Zac Jacobs (1g, 2gb), Michael Baker (1g, 1gb), and Eric Dai (1a, 3gb) completed the Woodbridge scoring. Michael Hood made four saves for the Warriors.
