Midfielder Joe Woody of Harvard Westlake has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Kenyon College in Ohio.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound senior did a lot of the dirty work last season on a Wolverines’ team that had a lot of offensive talent. Woody’s contributions didn’t show up as much in his own stats as they did in the stats of his teammates.
“Woody is the kind of kid you’re lucky to coach,” said Harvard Westlake coach Alex Weber. “He always gives his best effort and pushes those around him to be better.”
Woody excelled as a defensive midfielder and wing man on faceoffs. He was credited with 36 ground balls on the season, and his ability to secure possession and push the ball in transition helped fuel a high-scoring Harvard Westlake offense.
“He’s an absolute workhorse,” Weber said, “and with how much time he’s put into his game, I really think he’ll turn some heads this spring. He’s going to have a bang up senior season, and I know he’ll build a stellar career at Kenyon on and off the field.”
