Huntington Beach Takes Down Newport Harbor

logo_OilersThe Huntington Beach High School Oilers continued their climb up the County rankings by handily beating the Newport Harbor High School Sailors 14-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Oilers. Photos provided by Jill Fales.

Huntington Beach rode another standout effort from goalie Trevor Jackson (13 saves) and ’s continuing domination at the faceoff x to earn the victory. The Oilers’ offense was sparked by Taylor Reffice’s five goals (28 for the season) and Jerritt Rodenas’ four goals (14 for the season). David Mastro, Alex Kowolski, and Grant Lowman (12 goals for the season) each scored two goals for the Oilers.

Brian Team stood out for the Sailors with three goals, two takeaways and two groundballs. Chris Buchanan, Garret Farthing, and Ritter Hagadorn rounded out the Newport Harbor scoring. Christian Ruelas kept the Sailors in the game with 15 saves. Huntington Beach is now 9-1 for the season. They will travel to Corona del Mar High School Wednesday to take on the Sea Kings in the marquee matchup of the week. The Sailors fall to 3-10 and will host Los Alamitos on Wednesday.
