Corona del Mar High School junior defenseman Hugh Crance has verbally committed to NCAA Division I, University of Notre Dame. Crance is a member of the West Coast Starz club and plays locally for the OC Kings.
He won a Southern California High School Championship as a freshman for Corona del Mar High School. He attended the Terrapin Classic, NSCLA tournament, Adrenaline Showcase and Shootout and most recently Adrenaline High Rollers which was covered in full by the MaxLax team. Crance also considered Dartmouth, Richmond, and Lehigh.
Coach G.W. Mix had his to say about Crance:
“The CdM lacrosse program is proud of Hugh’s recent decision to play collegiate lacrosse at Notre Dame. He is a competitive and selfless athlete who applies the same level of intensity whether he is pursuing academics or attackmen.
Hugh has been a starter for us since his freshman year and very valuable part of our program. It is very fitting that a young man with his level of talent, determination and leadership would be selected to represent a lacrosse program and a University like Notre Dame that places such high value on these same attributes.”
Hugh recently stood out at last week’s Adrenaline High Rollers event making himself an easy choice for the All-Star Game. He made it clear that CdM will have the depth on defense to stop some of the county’s best offenses. Hugh is the kind of player that teams will have to gameplan their offenses around.
Crance will continue a CdM tradition when he takes to the field for the fighting Irish. Former Sea King and Orange County standout Ryan Mix (and GW’s son) is currently a senior this year in South Bend and will be playing against Denver at Orange Coast College this March for the Pacific Shootout event.
