HS: San Clemente Tops St. Margaret’s

The San Clemente Tritons topped St. Margaret’s Episcopal Monday night at SCHS, 14-10. The win improves the Tritons to 4-1 on the season; St. Margaret’s fell to 2-2.

San Clemente raced out to a 5-1 first quarter lead, as senior middie Aaron Self tied the game at 1-1 after Tartans middie Josh Davis had scored to put SMES up 1-0. Sophomore attackman Peyton Garrett (finished with 4 goals and 3 assists) and senior attackman Jay Kassity (4 goals for the game) each scored twice in the quarter for the early 5-1 lead. Junior Robbie Burns had two assists (finished with 1 goal, 3 assists) in the first quarter.

St. Margaret’s rallied behind a Matt Duenes goal and a pair from Kent Izuka, but SC got goals from Jordan Riggs, Luc Anderson and Charlie Satossky for an 8-4 halftime lead. Collin Zines had two assists in the first half for SC.

The teams matched each other in the second half scoring six times each for the final tally. Also scoring for SMES were Alex Waller (2 goals), Hunter Edington and Chase Williams. Izuka finished with three goals, while Duenes had two goals and two assists.

SC goalie Thomas Ahola finished with 9 saves.
