Senior attack Roman Holthouse scored 10 goals Saturday, seven in the second half, as Harvard Westlake continued its recent offensive onslaught with a 23-13 Mission League win at Crespi.
Harvard Westlake (10-5, 5-2), ranked seventh in last week’s US Lacrosse/MaxLaxLA coaches poll, has scored 26, 18, 16 and 23 goals in its last four victories. The only blemish in that span was a 17-6 loss at Orange County power St. Margaret’s Episcopal.
Holthouse, who scored seven goals earlier in the week against Oak Park, didn’t play the first time these teams met, a game Crespi won 11-10 by holding off a furious Wolverines rally in the fourth quarter. Saturday, Harvard Westlake scored off the opening faceoff — the first of junior Philip Thompson‘s five goals — and never trailed.
Alex Dixon led Crespi, ranked fifth in last week’s coaches poll, with eight goals, and Sean Friedman and Jack Doyle each scored two. Doyle also had three assists.
The win boosts Harvard Westlake into second place in the Mission League with one game left, at Loyola on Thursday. Crespi (8-6, 5-3), which has completed league play, sits a half-game behind in third place, pending the outcome of the HW-Loyola game.
