Holthouse, Levitt Lead Harvard Westlake Past Chaminade

Seniors Roman Holthouse and Oliver Levitt scored three goals each Tuesday, and No. 4-seeded Harvard Westlake led from the opening minute in a 12-4 win over visiting No. 13-seed Chaminade.

The Wolverines (11-7) weren’t dominant — and in fact played a fairly sloppy first half — but strong play from goalie Troy Hattler and equally sloppy play from the Eagles enabled Harvard Westlake to take a 6-0 lead into halftime.

Chaminade (9-10) finally got on the board with three minutes left in the third quarter on a goal by senior Cameron Yerzyk that made it 7-1. Junior Mark Galanti scored the first of his two goals with about 10 minutes to play, pulling the Eagles to within 7-2. But five consecutive goals from the Wolverines sealed the win.

Harvard Westlake now awaits the outcome of Wednesday’s first-round meeting between No. 12-seed Redondo Union and No. 5-seed Westlake. The winner of that game will play at Harvard Westlake on Thursday in a quarterfinal game.
