High Expectations For Chapman, Concordia, Fullerton

The Under Armour/MCLA Coaches  pre-season poll today with three Orange County colleges occupying impressive postions.  Chapman University starts the season ranked No. 4 nationally in MCLA Division 1.  The local rivalry between MCLA Division 2 powers Concordia and Fullerton heats up again this year with Concordia ranked No. 2 and Fullerton No. 12.  All three teams compete in the Southwest Lacrosse Conference.

Grand Canyon, led by former St. Margaret’s goalie Brandon Suchand is favored to repeat as the Division 1 national champs.  No. 2 Colorado, No. 3 Virginia Tech, Chapman, and No. 5 Arizona State round out the Top 5.

Concordia sits behind Dayton, the defending national champions, in the polls.  University of St. Thomas, North Dakota State, and St. John’s University round out the top 5 in MCLA Division 2.

Once again, the SLC is expected to be one of the most competitive leagues in the MCLA.   No. San Diego State and No. 11 Arizona join Grand Canyon, Chapman, and Arizona State in the Division 1 poll.  No. 21 CSU San Marcos and No. 25 USD give the SLC four teams in the Division 2 Top 25.
