Help Harnisch and Blank Earn a Trip to The Ride

MaxlaxOC shieldWe all know it, and the rest of the country is beginning to catch on; Orange County has become an incubator for elite college lacrosse prospects.  Nevertheless, unlike traditional lacrosse hotbeds of the northeast, we are located 3,000 miles away from most of the campuses where NCAA lacrosse is played.  That means that our guys have to work a little harder to get noticed by recruiters, and two of the OC’s top class-of-2016 prospects are putting in that extra effort.

Foothill goalie Ryan Blank and St. Margaret’s attackman Sam Harnisch want to show they can play with the best by getting invited to The Ride presented by Nike Lacrosse.  Harnisch tallied 57 points (41 goals and 16 assists) for the Tartans this spring.  He plays for  Victory and FCA national teams in the offseason.  Blank logged 606 minutes between the pipes for the Southern Section champion Knights.  He turned away 103 shots and had a 52.2% save percentage.  The big sophomore really showed his potential against La Costa Canyon when he frustrated the Mavericks high-powered offense with 19 saves.  He also turned away 11 JSerra shots in the OC championship game.

The Ride is a unique, immersive experience that gives some of the best high school players in the country the opportunity to fly out to Nike’s world headquarters and train, test and work with top coaches and products. Between getting coaching from players like Kyle Harrison, Max Seibald, Jeremy Thompson and Kara Cannizzaro to getting to see the newest Nike lacrosse gear and apparel to competing in Nike SPARQ training, The Ride gives elite players the chance to get better and play against the best.  Last year’s inaugural version of The Ride featured the best high school players from all over the country, a blue-chip group that made its way to Nike’s worldwide headquarters by invitation only.  Invitations will go out again this year for the Class of 2016, but Nike and Inside Lacrosse are teaming up on this submission contest to open up this unique opportunity to 10 lucky players (5 boys/5 girls) from across the U.S. in the high school Class of 2016.

As deserving as they are,  Blank and Harnisch can use our help.  Each has prepared an audition tape that is posted on The Ride’s website that is open to the public for voting and will be evaluated by the program’s staff. encourages everyone in the OC lax community to  help Harnisch and Blank show the country that OC can play with the best.  View their audition tapes and cast your votes!
