Huntington Beach – The Edison boys lacrosse team beat Newport Harbor for the first time in program history Tuesday evening. Connor Greif scored three goals to help the Chargers outlast the Sailors 7-5 in a nail biter.
Evan Siegel, Mike Balding, Chad Apodaca and AJ McLean each chipped in one goal to supplement Greif’s hat tricks. Faceoff specialist Nick Nguyen won 10 faceoffs to help Edison control possession.
Clinging to a 6-5 lead going into the fourth quarter, the Chargers used lockdown defense and an insurance goal to help notchtheir first-ever victory over the Sailors. The feat has taken the Chargers three years of CIF play to accomplish.
