Mission Viejo High School is not the only place where lacrosse players are leading their teams to CIF championship games. Dual-sport lacrosse players have played a key role in the St. Margaret’s Episcopal School Tartans run to this evening’s Southern Section Championship game against Grace Brethren of Simi Valley. Oscar Gomez will lead a large contingent of Tartans’ lacrosse players on the field tonight (7:30 pm at St. Margaret’s) including Nick Shanks, Ryan O’Hare, Mike McGraw, Ryan O’Hare, Jeremy Davis, Fernando Delgado, James Eidt, and Sam Harnisch.
Gomez, a senior running back, has produced eye-popping numbers. This season he gained 2,184 yards, ran for 100-plus yards 12 times, and scored 38 touchdowns. Gomez was the subject of a great piece in OCVarsity.com. Click on the link to read the article, and learn more about this fine young man and the team-first attitude that embodies the Tartans.
