Two pairs turned out to be a winning hand for the Foothill boys’ lacrosse team when they hosted Faith Lutheran of Las Vegas on Saturday.  Seniors Josh Fox (5G, 2A) and Ellis Geis (6G, 2A) combined for 11 goals while another pair of seniors, Michael Logan and Miles Smart, dominated the dot, winning 19 of 25 faceoffs.  That was more than enough for Foothill to secure a 17-6 victory over the Nevada state champions.

No less important was the Foothill defense, which applied its trademark pressure to keep the visitors from mounting any sustained offensive threats during the game.  Kenny Algeo and Mark Joy each recovered five groundballs to lead the poles.  Andrew Cumming (two goals), Riley Ahern, Eason Babb, Troy Hofer, and Logan also tallied for the Knights.

Believe it or not, the season is now almost half over and Foothill (9-0) will head to the Bay Area for spring break this week where they will face St. Ignatius (5-4) and San Ramon Valley (8-1).  Faith Lutheran will finish their Orange County trifecta when they visit Mater Dei  this evening.
