Fullerton Welcomes Ansel with a 21 Goal Salute

The California State University Fullerton Titans ushered in the Mike Ansel era with a 21-1 thrashing of the Long Beach State 49ers.  The Titans scored early and often their 2014 Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association season opener.  Freshman Alex Kowalski (Huntington Beach High School) showed that his left hand rip will coninue to terrorize at the next level as he opened the scoring in the first few seconds of the game and finished the evening with 6 goals and 2 assists.  Senior captains Gabe Alamillo (Mater Dei High School) and Ray Austin (Corona del Mar High School) also had big nights. Alamillo led all scoreres with 9 points (3 goals and 6 assists). Austin registered the best highlight of the night when he finished a jaunt behind the cage with a NLOTSWALP (no look over the shoulder with a long pole) goal. Ansel was happy with the  team’s performance as he started preparing for the next challenge: “The team played well, it was the first game of the year but it looks as if the team has a full grasp on what we are trying to do as a program. We have a couple tough games coming up in the next month that we will be ready for. But overall, it was a solid performance all around.”

The Titans hit the road for for their next four games beginning with  division rivals Occidental College on February 23 at 2:00 pm and MCLA Division 1 opponents University of Southern California on February 26 at 7:00 pm.
