Fox, Santana, and Whitney Share Boys’ Lacrosse Player of the Week Honors

Foothill senior attack Josh Fox, Santiago senior midfielder Ruben Santana, and Corona del Mar senior defenseman Landon Whitney were name boys’ lacrosse Players of the Week. The POTWs were selected by MaxLax staff.

Fox helped Foothill go 3-0 last week with 10 goals and four assists. He had three goals and two assists against Trabuco Hills, two goals and an assist against Loomis Chaffee, and five goals and an assist agains Corona Del Mar.

Despite having a quiet night (1G) against a polished Yorba Linda squad, Santana rebounded with a four-goal, two-assist performance in Santiago’s win over Aliso Niguel. The University of Utah commit has been an integral part in the Sharks’ offense, picking apart opposing defenses and proving to be a serious threat whenever he’s near the net.

Whitney had a busy week covering two US Lacrosse All Americans  and was outstanding.  His one on one defense and ground balls helped his team stay stay close despite eventually falling to Santa Margarita 8-7 on Wednesday.  Whitney was dominant in coverage on Saturday against Foothill, and sparked multiple transition opportunities off caused turn overs and ground balls, showing thst he can run the fast break with the best of them.
