Inside Lacrosse just released its list of the Top 50 Young Gun Juniors in the United States, and placed Foothill High School junior attackman Nate Marano at #27. The big lefty is the lone OC representative, and only one of three Californians, on a list that was dominated by East Coasters. Marano, who is verbally committed to play at Denver University, is the top-ranked Californian in his class ahead of Connor McCroskey (#29) of the Bishop’s School in San Diego and future Denver teammate Austin French of San Ramon Valley High School (#44). The traditional lacrosse hotbeds of New York and Maryland dominated the list of Top 50 Juniors, occupying half of the spots.
Marano took second-team All-Orange County honors this season after exploding onto the varsity scene and helping the Knights advance to the Orange County semi-finals. This summer, Marano played club with West Coast Starz and OC Kings. By our unofficial tally, he has set a new benchmark for the up-and-coming OC talent by being the first OC player to be named to such a selective list of individual players by Inside Lacrosse magazine.
