Foothill’s seniors said goodbye to Northrup field, the place that they have called home for four years, in winning fashion Thursday night. On an emotional senior night for a group that has won three straight county titles, the whole team stepped up to the challenge as Foothill defeated Amador, 10-3.
Foothill jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Knights pushed the lead to 6-2 in the third quarter and won handily 10-3 with a dominant fourth quarter. Coach Jon Fox got a glimpse of the future as the Knights’ promising group of young freshmen showed that they are more than ready to continue the winning Foothill tradition. Freshman Austin Babb won control of 12 of 17 draws to give FHS valuable possession time, and freshman Nate Marano led the Knights with 4 goals and 1 assist for a career best. 12 saves by Senior Keeper Teddy Ochiai kept Amador off the board, while FHs rallied for their big second half. Junior Cameron Stone was another key contributor with 2 goals and 1 assist.
