Foothill Upsets St. Ignatius

Foothill rebounded from home losses last week to Mt. St. Joseph’s and Bergen Catholic by defeating Concord de La Salle by a score of 8-6 and St. Ignatius by a score of 6-4 on their spring break trip to the Bay Area this week. Goalie Ryan Blank (St. John’s) had back-to-back 13-save games and was supported by the swarming defense of long-poles Kosta and George Dalis, and Tanner Boston and short stick defensive midfielder Chris Reem to keep both opponents to single digits.

Senior attack Nathan Skeen led the offense with five goals and two assists in the two games, including four scores against De La Salle. Foothill also got punching power from sophomore attack Ellis Geis, who scored twice against St. Ignatius and once against De La Salle.

Against St. Ignatius, Josh Fox, Matt Harris and Tony Delcrognale each scored to support the efforts of Geis and Skeen. Fox also scored against De La Salle as did senior midfielders Steven Oberly and Evan Brown.

Next up: Foothill (11-3) hosts Palos Verdes (8-3), the no. 1 team in Los Angeles. The Sea Kings also defeated De La Salle this week.
