Foothill Defeats Los Alamitos

The West’s fifth-ranked boys lacrosse team, Foothill High School, defeated Los Alamitos 11-3 in the second round of the Orange County Invitational on Wednesday night. The Knights broke open an early 3-3 tie by running off the last eight goals of the game.

Senior midfielder Chris Reem scored Foothill’s first goal. Attack/midfielder Kevin Kodzis scored a game-high five points (4 goals, 1 assist). Senior midfielders Matt Harris and Steven Oberly both scored twice. Sophomores Ellis Geis and Josh Fox completed the Foothill goal scoring with one apiece. Senior attack Nathan Skeen added two assists and junior attack Ryan Foy added one.

Sophomore midfielder Bronson Ban led the Los Alamitos offense with two goals. Joey Weinman, an All-League attack in 2015, scored one.

Foothill senior goalie Ryan Blank and his defensive unit held the opposition to low single digits for the second time in two outings this season. Defensemen Tanner Boston, and brothers George and Kosta Dalis played strong all night to limit the Los Al scoring chances.

The Orange County Invitational continues at Los Alamitos on Saturday. Foothill (2-0) plays St. Margaret’s (1-1) in a battle between the No. 4 and No. 5 teams in the West. Los Al (0-2) meets Oak Park (0-2).
