Once again Foothill boys lacrosse will walk the gauntlet with one of the most demanding schedules in the state. The schedule is simply stacked. In addition to the best Orange County teams, the Knights take on top teams from San Diego to Baltimore.
In California, Foothill will face the top teams in San Diego and Los Angeles. The Knights will face the best teams in San Diego when they host Poway, the two-time reigning San Diego CIF champs Poway, on April 29, and travel to Torrey Pines on April 8 and La Costa Canyon on April 22. The Knights will also travel north of the Orange Curtain for games against Loyola, the reigning Southern Section champs, on March 11 and Palos Verdes on March 23.
The Foothill schedule is also loaded with out-of-state competition. One of the best programs in Texas, The Woodlands School, visits Foothill on March 13. Wheat Ridge of Colorado comes to town on March 27; they are alway well coached and dangerous.
Foothill is also headed to Baltimore for three games over spring break. The highlight of the trip is the game vs Calvert Hall, the legendary program that is often a contender for top spot in the nation.
“We always try to play the toughest teams available and a variety of teams in-state and in other states to give a well-rounded experience to the players,” head coach Jon Fox said. “Thanks to the great job the boosters do we once again can travel to back east!.”
“I think the impactful schedule makes for many great and memorable games,” Fox added. “There’s more to the high school lacrosse experience than the final week of OC. Playing a championship team every week, sometimes two, makes for a challenge and it’s a lot of fun”.
